Silence of the Marsh is a film directed by Marc Vigil starring the famous Pedro Alonso, which is the main reason I decided to give this film a shot. This movie is about a famous writer whose protagonists are his victims. He preys on people, kills them and either investigates them or uses them for inspiration for his novels and in the more extreme cases, both. We see this in the first scene. However, what we understand as the film unravels, he’s not the only criminal in this movie. We see quite a variety, ranging from drug dealers to murderers. To that end, the movie is very violent and hard to watch. If I hadn’t been stuck on a long transatlantic flight with very little entertainment, I don’t know if I would have personally stuck with the movie.
However, if you do decide to watch this film, you’ll get to see Pedro Alonso from Money Heist and Gran Hotel portray yet another villain in the effortless way that Alonso has depicted such characters in the above referenced hit shows. You will also recognize Raul Prieto from Velvet Colección, if you’ve read and watched my previous recommendations. Yet I cannot recommend this film in good faith – I thought it was very violent and thus hard to watch, and there weren’t any characters that I was personally rooting for. All in all, if you see this pop up on your Netflix list, I’d say skip it, don’t stream it.
